NOTHING says summer is here quite like a great new-look and liveliness in your home.

An open concept design also known as minimalistic style is the perfect style for summer season .  . . it does not require you to dig deeper into your pocket, all you need to do is to remove some items from your space.

It is the perfect way to upgrade your home from a stuffy atmosphere to a calm, relaxed and refreshing atmosphere that screams summer.

After a long day, the last thing you need is to come home to a chaotic and unwelcoming atmosphere. Get rid of the clutter and store away unwanted items that you have been using during the winter.

There is nothing soothing like an addition of beautiful plants and flowers in your home. They bring a new great look, filter the air around the room, add colour, liveliness which is what has been lacking during winter season.

Colour palettes that you choose should show a switch from winter to summer. They may be neutral and airy; furnishings are simple and streamlined, and nothing is excessive or flamboyant in accessories or décor when it comes to open concept style.

Remove all the heavy drapes or curtains and leave the window bare, especially if the windows are large. It all depends with the size of the window; if it is big you can just tint it and leave it as it is.

Ideally, window dressings should be functional and elegant: Think sheers paired with full-length panels. If your room gets a lot of sun, opt for light colours that will not fade. The most recommended lightweight fabrics for panels are cotton, linen, and silk blends because they tend to hang well and they do not make the room feel stuffy.

Make sure there is flaw in your room just like in a hotel reception area where the furniture is arranged in groupings that invite conversation. For example when you place furniture in your living room, make sure there is a sense of balance and unity. If you have a combination of a couch and chairs make them talk to each other.

By so doing your space will feel welcoming. Avoid pushing your furniture against the wall, people have a tendency of doing that thinking it will create more space but that is not the case, having furniture away from the wall makes the room feel larger, which is the main aim for this type of design.

Create your own sanctuary and make your home a place where you can relax and recharge.
