Ministers to meet Mat provincial leaders

TEN Cabinet ministers will this week meet political leaders in Matabeleland region in a landmark meeting expected to border on wide ranging issues affecting the region, chief among them being the resuscitation of the region’s economy.Senior Minister of State in the President’s Office, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo told delegates during a Matabeleland North Zanu-PF provincial induction workshop at Elangeni Institute yesterday that the meeting would take place on Saturday at the same venue.

Lined up to meet the region’s political leaders are the Minister of Finance, Cde Patrick Chinamasa, Minister of Agriculture Mechanisation and Irrigation Dr Joseph Made, Minister of Energy and Power Development Cde Dzikamai Mavhaire, Minister of Mines and Mining Development Cde Walter Chidhakwa, Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Dr Obert Mpofu, Minister of Environment, Water and Climate Cde Saviour Kasukuwere, Minister of Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Cde Francis Nhema, Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and Co-operative Development Cde Sithembiso Nyoni, Minister of Industry and Commerce Cde Mike Bimha and the Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement Dr Douglas Mombeshora.

Cde Khaya Moyo, who is also the Zanu-PF national chairman said the meeting would provide an opportunity for the region’s political leaders to interact with the cabinet ministers.

“We have invited 10 Cabinet ministers to meet leaders of this region and discuss issues that are affecting our region. For example we would want to hear what the Minister of Finance has to say on funding projects in this region, the Minister of Industry and Commerce would also tell us his strategy on resuscitating local industry.

“The meeting will basically border on how this region’s economy can be improved. So come this Saturday at this same venue we will meet the ministers and have fruitful discussions,” he said.

Cde Khaya Moyo encouraged the region’s political leaders to attend the meeting and have their input on the deliberations of the day.
