NEW vibrant entrant — Direct (Pvt) Ltd, trading in fast-moving consumer goods as Direct Cash & Carry are currently seized with a mega expansion drive that has since seen more locals getting employed by the day across their varied departments.

Having taken Bulawayo by storm at the opening of their very first one-stop mega store at 2nd Avenue/Lobengula Street early this year, Direct Cash & Carry swiftly moved on to open a second branch towards the end of March to cater for their expanding customer base. This new business heavyweight is already set to open yet another branch — their third within just four months of opening, on 3 May 2018. Their fourth supermarket will be beyond Bulawayo and is to be officially opened at the end of May at Zengeza 4, Chitungwiza.

“All our stores are open between 8am and 8pm for the convenience of our diverse customers.

We wish to thank the Bulawayo community for their overwhelming support especially ever since we unpacked amazing promotions that are meant to give real value for your hard-earned money. Even though we have high inflow of customer traffic because of our amazing offers, I can safely guarantee that our able staff will timely serve you to your satisfaction”, remarked Mr Evans Nyoni; the 34-year-old majority shareholder and managing director at Direct Cash & Carry.

“We’re 100 percent indigenous, so we’re proudly Zimbabwean. As such, we ‘Buy Zimbabwe’. We exclusively focus on Zimbabwean products and services. Just turn up at, say our 6th Avenue and Robert Mugabe Way branch and you will realise how amazing the quality of these products is, yet very affordable.

Compatriot, this is where you will get value and save every day. All our stores offer one-stop services, so you will get all you want under one roof; and our stock prices are just budget-beating.

For the record, Direct Cash & Carry is an equal opportunity employer; we do not discriminate based on race, sex, physical disability or otherwise, no; we’re just inclusive! If anything, we’re seeking to empower especially the vulnerable youths, and 50 percent of our staff are young women across the racial divide. Where else have you seen this?” added the soft-spoken young entrepreneur.

But, most local retailers are facing a new crisis as unscrupulous manufacturers in the fast-moving consumer goods sector are pushing their products on the streets, by-passing supermarkets and wholesalers in search of the elusive hard currency. Worse still, some retailers too are insisting on three-tier pricing which is punitive on customers without hard currency, a move since condemned by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.

“Direct Cash & Carry is customer-centric and socially responsible. Our stock prices are even, all forms of payment are acceptable across all our stores at the same rate. Whether cash, swipe, mobile money, the price is the same. Valued customer, why should you accept to be defrauded by unscrupulous retailers?” said Ms Shellen Edy, their Finance Director.

“For the convenience of all our customers — local or in the diaspora, we’re introducing what we call the Direct Diaspora Fullment Centre. All what a customer in the diaspora needs to do is to just call our Customer Service Agent, or place an order on our WhatsApp platform, sit back and relax and we will physically deliver the order straight away to the indicated local address. So those in the diaspora can now buy groceries for their loved ones back home and both parties will be served from the comfort of their homes. Be calm and expect more amazing packages, this is Direct Cash & Carry for you”, she added.

It is positive that some local retail companies, though very few, are already taking initiatives meant to attract foreign currency in support of Government. Now, more companies need to come on board.
