LUVEVE legislator Mr Reggie Moyo and Ward 28 councillor Collet Ndhlovu reportedly exchanged blows last Sunday, after the latter held an unsanctioned meeting at the former’s house in Cowdray Park, without seeking his approval.
It is alleged Clr Ndhlovu had called the meeting to get more supporters for the MDC Renewal team but did not seek approval from Mr Moyo leading to the two clashing after the legislator found him ‘feeling at home’ at his residence in Cowdray Park.

Although Mr Moyo refuted that the two exchanged blows, he acknowledged that the meeting was held without his knowledge.
“I have heard a lot being said about this alleged altercation with Clr Ndhlovu but frankly I see no story, yes he held a meeting in my house but honestly no one can just hold a meeting on someone else’s property without seeking approval first.

“Besides the councillor and myself are both in the same party, this being the renewal team, we would never clash on ourselves, if the fight was between myself and someone from that other MDC, I would have understood but why would I fight someone, with whom we are fighting for the same cause,” said the MP.

Clr Ndhlovu also denied these allegations claiming that the ‘story’ was being spread by his detractors.
However, residents who witnessed the scuffle said Mr Moyo was allegedly infuriated by the councillor’s failure not inform him of the meeting.

The two are ironically part of the MDC Renewal team that is led by former MDC-T secretary general Mr Tendai Biti, with Mr Moyo having being one of the chief recruiters of the faction in the province.

“This is not the first time the two have clashed, one then wonders how the two operate because not only are they leaders in the same constituency but they are both in the same faction, even during the run-up to last year’s elections, at one point they were not even talking to each other.

“What happened in this particular situation the councillor called a recruitment meeting under the guise of a residents meeting at the MP’s house, it later turned out that he had not got his approval. When the MP arrived to find people converged at his house that is when all hell broke loose, with the MP attacking the councillor,” said a source who attended the meeting.

Another source claimed that the clash was caused by Clr Ndhlovu’s dilly-dallying whether he was part of the renewal team or not.
“Initially the councillor called a meeting at the MP’s house about three weeks ago where he informed people that he was no longer part of the MDC-T but ever since it has not been clear where he stands. The MP then instead said that the councillor must come clean, instead of using his resources for his own good,” said the source.

Mr Moyo claimed that there was a good working relationship, which was mainly influenced by the fact that both of them were working for the development of Cowdray Park.
