HIGHLANDERS Football Club has previously had artistes producing great hits about the club that went gold in the market such as from the likes of Lovemore Majaivana and South African music legend Freddy Gwala. However, the most common denominator among them was that they were all male artistes.

Now, United Kingdom-based Sisa Mnkandla better known by her stage name Sisasenkosi has changed that by releasing her debut Maskandi album titled Thandolwethu in which much attention has been directed to her latest video Amahlolanyama which has earned more than 35 000 views on Facebook within a few days of its release.
The video was shot on 2 April at Barborfields Stadium during a Premier Soccer League match between Bulawayo City and Highlanders in which Bosso won by two goals to nil.

The video features Ezimnyama Dance Ensemble which is directed by Phibion Ncube, Maskandi music sensation Zinjaziyamluma, Ishmael Muvingi, Martin Khumalo from Umkhathi theatre works, Desmond Ntini, Tswarelo Mothobi who directed the production of the video and Highlanders supporters who were present during the match.

The audio of the track was recorded and released last year in October as a single and in February as part of the Thandolwethu album.

“Last year I was in Zimbabwe and I met Zinja who introduced me to some of the local Maskandi musicians. We started recording the Amahlolanyama track and after leaving the country, Zinja liaised with the studio for me until the song was rightly mastered.

The rest was done through social media because with technology everything is possible,” she said.

Sisa said her love for Highlanders inspired her to shoot the Amahlolanyama video at Barbourfieds and dedicated the video to all Highlanders supporters and her followers.

“Since day one I have been passionate about Bosso which triggered me to at least shoot and produce Amahlolanyama video at Barborfields to prove my loyalty and love for the famous Black and White Highlanders for life,” she said.

The new queen of Maskandi thanked the Bulawayo family for supporting her music and also Zinjaziyamluma who recognized the potential in her.

“To my dear brother Mxoe from Tsholotsho thank you for believing in me. To my fans I`m deeply humbled with the support you have given me,” she said.

Sisa aged her followers to purchase her music online and buy CDs so that she can also benefit from her music.

“Fans can by CDs at Carol’s Sports Shop opposite the Chronicle and they can also purchase the songs from Thandolwethu on Itunes, Google play, CD Baby and any other online stores,” she added.

Thandolwethu album consists of six songs and two instrumentals and features talented local Maskandi artistes namely Sifiso Mkhize with Abafana BakaKhansela, Gearbox with Abafana Bakamola, Clement Ndebele, Christopher Moyo and Muzomkhulu Ndlovu. Fans can follow her on Facebook as Sisa Senkosi.
