WHEN other kids were still busy trying to read and write full sentences, she was already writing her own music. She is one of the fresh artistes that Kasi No Valo has recruited and has released her first single which she hopes will be her breakthrough.

Amina Simba also known as Amina is a 24-year-old afro soul, traditional jazz gospel artiste with a strong and growing passion for music. The young artiste said being new in the music industry was challenging as there is still a lot she has to learn from those who have been in the industry for a long time.

“I still have a lot to learn in this industry and the competition is very stiff as I have to compete with made divas. I am happy though to have been picked by Kasi No Valo because I know that I am working with people who have experience in this industry,” she said.

Music has always been her childhood dream and it has only come to realisation now with her new single entitled Madzimambo. She said she has been singing from a tender age and she wrote her first song when she was in Grade Three.

“I remember I wrote my first song when I was still at primary school. I have always been singing in church, weddings and small events,” she said.

She said working with Skhu and POZee was a relief for her because they help her do things that she would have not thought about.

“Being signed under Kasi No Valo calms the storm because Skhu and POZee have a good idea of what works and what does not.

“They help me mingle with other artistes and the society at large since they have already established good relations with different people,” she said.

Amina said that she was the voice of the voiceless and hopes that her music will touch everyone who listens to it. She said she wants people to get healing of wounds through her music.

“I speak for people and also bring peace to their hearts through my music. People should expect big things from me because my music is all about being the voice for the voiceless. I want somebody to stand up and say because of me their cries were heard,” she said.

Besides music, Amina tackles issues that affect women and children through the Ministry of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development.. She said she is working on starting her own fashion label.
