TSHIBILIKA music outfit, Ndolwane Super Sounds, fronted by Martin Sibanda, is ready to roll out their new album Konke Sizokulungisa to their local fans on Saturday at the Amphitheatre.
The Bulawayo launch follows yesterday’s launch that was held in Hillbrow Theatre, Johannesburg, South Africa.
The group’s manager, Thandazani Nyoni said music lovers can expect an exciting show that will feature fellow Tshibilika musician, Clement Magwaza, mbaqanga ace, Zinjaziyamluma and versatile artiste, Madlela Skhobokhobo of the Ngamnanka fame.
There has been a long wait for the album that was released this past Saturday following a piracy scare that saw snippets of uncompleted tracks making rounds on social media.
Nyoni said they had managed to quell the piracy storm and come up with tunes that fans will enjoy and are new.
“The tracks were not complete so we just made the normal changes that had already been planned and the new songs are not anything like what people have heard on social media.
“We have also added a bonus track on the CD to make them seven tracks. We are confident it is going to be a great follow up to Bakhuzeni,” he said.
The track listing on Sibanda’s second album since he parted ways with Charles Ndebele include Milenje, Abantwana, Icilongo, Malindu and Great Team with the bonus track being a remix of the hit tune Bakhuzeni.
Sikhobokhobo is certain to be a draw card at Saturday’s show as it is first performance in Bulawayo since the release of his popular track, Ngamnanka.
The musician’s narrative, comedy style of singing has endeared him with audiences in South Africa while locally; many seem to have taken an instant liking of the tune.
In an effort to curb piracy, Nyoni said they have entered into a partnership with the Criminal Investigation Department in Matabeleland North Business Against Crime Forum of Zimbabwe that will see the album being sold at police camps.
He said they had worked with the organisation last year in the fight against piracy and they decided to engage them again this year.
Nyoni said they are negotiating with Zimpapers to avail the album at their various vending points nationwide.
“Zimpapers has a huge distribution network that we believe can assist us reach our fans quickly and with the CD going for $1 each it would be a big coup for us if we reach an agreement as we would be able to make money from CD sales before pirates start selling it.
“We are likely to conclude negotiations on Monday (tomorrow) or Tuesday. Unfortunately the Trade Fair stalled the process but we are confident by the time they perform in Bulawayo, the CD will be out on the streets,” he said.
