SHOES, dear shoes. Oh, how we do love YOU. Of course, we are not the first women to be completely obsessed with our shoes. First there was Cinderella, then there was Pokello Nare, oh and nearly every single female out there. It is a known fact that women love shoes. We are yet to meet one that doesn’t have strong feelings toward shoes. But have you ever wondered the actual reasons behind why women love shoes so much?

Long before spiked heels with exotic names (Louboutin, anyone?) became objects of desire, ladies have been shoe-crazy. But recently, we got proof of exactly how crazy: While sales of most things have decreased thanks to the recession, footwear sales have gone up compared to the same period last year. Yes, buying a pair of shoes has always had near-supernatural effects — like instantly updating an outfit from last year or just making you feel hotter than hell — but that doesn’t fully explain how footwear is beating the odds in sales.

Why women love shoes! Men, take notes please.

A Higher Power
All those wonderful feelings are intensified when you choose high heels . . . but again, it’s biology. Like most animals, we’re wired to associate height with power. That’s what the experts are saying. “High heels can literally raise your status because you’re taller when you wear them.”

Heels carry historical significance as well, adding to their appeal. In previous centuries, only the wealthy wore high heels — everyone else had practical footwear to do manual labour. Shoes were a measure of class, and we still have a bit of that mindset ingrained in us.

Confidence
Shoes give you more confidence. That amazing feeling you get when you slip into your new pair of shoes. It changes the way you look and definitely your walk. You become confident as if you can conquer the world.

Posture
Wearing the right pair of shoes can improve your posture. Anyone with back problems knows that a lot of problems are due to slouching and wearing the wrong shoes. Although the trick is to choose the right fit, something you are comfortable in and can walk in.

Pert Bottom
High heels certainly make your bottom look more pert! ABSOLUTELY.

Longer Legs
Shoes can change your appearance, I’m a firm believer in nude heels elongating your legs. The best investment shoes are a pair of well-made and well cut nude courts. This will also depend on your skin tone. Do go for nude that complements your skin tone.

Complete an outfit
Shoes complete an outfit. A little black dress can be dressed down with some flats or dressed up with some heels. A change of shoes is all you need to go from smart to casual or vice versa. Matching a shoe to the correct outfit is very important because the shoe makes or breaks an outfit.

Variety
There is such a variety of shoes out there, shoes perfect for all occasions. Gladiators for festivals, heels for special occasions, every day comfortable shoes, boots for the winter season, sandals for the beach. So many different shoes for different occasions to fill your wardrobe with! You can never have enough pairs.

Size doesn’t matter
We can pile on a few extra pounds and your shoes will always forgive you by still fitting!

Collector’s item
Shoes are collector’s items. Some women have even been known to even buy shoes that don’t fit just to have them on display in their house.

Tell a story
There is a great old saying that you can tell all you need to know about a person by the shoes that they are wearing. Tell a story, play on it and go elaborate by some adding drama to your outfit.

Retail Therapy
It has been proven that buying new shoes increases a lady’s dopamine levels by an unusual amount. A natural high that makes you feel good and have self-confidence? Count us in!

Everyone Looks Great In Shoes
Self-image is very important to women. Even though it isn’t fair, some women are built differently than others. Certain tops, jeans, and dresses only look decent on various figures and shapes.

Some women can wear low-cut shirts, while others need to cover up in sweaters and longer skirts, but shoes look great on everyone. Women who are looking to lose weight for various reasons may not feel comfortable in their own skin, so they refuse to wear certain outfits.

Shoes, however, do not discriminate by shape or size. Anyone can look sexy in a pair of stilettos. Therefore, shoes are the go-to accessories. We wear shoes, and therefore they are more personal than a handbag or headband. Yet, they are not dependent on our age, shape or size.
