THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League will meet this morning in Harare as they prepare for the 2015 season that is expected to kick off in a fortnight.
Although the league’s first whistle had been expected to be blown this coming Saturday it is likely to be moved to 14 March to accommodate the finals of the Bob91 Super Cup whose elimination match is scheduled for today at Barbourfields Stadium and involves Highlanders and Caps United.
The winner of the tie will square off against defending champions Dynamos next weekend.

PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele confirmed the annual general meeting with issues likely to come up for discussion ranging from venues and competitions for the season.

Several venues have been condemned and the PSL has urged stadia owners to make renovations to ensure they are up to PSL standards. Clubs have also been urged to sign contracts for grounds use if they do not have their own, as most stadia in the country are owned by local authorities.

The Zifa Grounds Inspection Committee had made several reservations about some stadia that include Ascot in Gweru, Sakubva in Mutare while Rusape Town Council was urged to make several modifications to Vhengere Stadium that will be used by newboys, Dongo Sawmills.
The PSL will also discuss aligning their rules and regulations with those of Fifa and Zifa Statutes.

Only two cup competitions have been scheduled for this season, so far, the Chibuku Super Cup and the Top Eight competition amid reports that the Mbada Diamonds Cup, which had been pencilled to be the 2015 season opener will not be on the football calendar this year.

The tournament had been scheduled for late last year but was moved to make way for the African Union Sports Council Region Five under-20 Youth Games that were held in Bulawayo in December.

The withdrawal of the Mbada Cup is likely to come as a blow to the football world although the competition had already been trimmed from a full league cup to being a top four competition.

Fixtures were initially released on Thursday but an amended list was availed the following day with minor changes.
