A SOUTH African company ExecuPlaytime Leisure and Travel is working with two Zimbabweans in a new initiative called Visit Zimbabwe which will benefit from an initial capital of about R200 000 meant to promote the country’s tourism industry.
In an interview, ExecuPlaytime chairman Mr Thabiso Magodielo said the initiative was aimed at firstly promoting Zimbabwe to the South African market before expanding to neighbouring countries and globally.

“It became apparent to us that with the magnificent offering Zimbabwe has to the holidaymaker, most South Africans seem not to be aware of this hidden wonder of the world,” said Mr Magodielo.

He said the two locals he was working with are Mr Conrad Mwanza of ZimAchievers Awards and Mr Richard Moyo who runs an advertising agency in South Africa.

Speaking on how the initiative would benefit Zimbabwe, Mr Magodielo said their drive was not only meant to promote the country as a leisure travel place but also as a Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) destination, their targeted audience being the South African government, civil servants as well as the corporate sector.

He said the initiative was aimed at marketing Zimbabwe exclusively unlike previous ventures that included other destinations.
“The initiative is aimed at marketing Zimbabwe exclusively, so in partnership and collaboration with all Zimbabwean tourism products, we will push volumes into Zimbabwe.

Our focus will be to promote leisure travel, conferencing, meetings, events and incentive travel into Zimbabwe. Benefits will then go to accommodation property owners, transport operators, restaurants, tour guides, travel agents, hawkers, activity providers and other people involved in the tourism sector in Zimbabwe,” Mr Magodielo said.

He said the Visit Zimbabwe initiative would be launched at the end of this month.
Mr Magodielo said the initiative would be launched in either Johannesburg or Pretoria, the economic hub of South Africa.

“Marketing activities will however be rolled out to introduce the initiative to all the other provinces in our country. It will not be limited to the city where it will be launched,” he said, adding that a lot of work had been put in to ensure the success of the venture.

Responding to questions on why ExecuPlaytime Leisure and Travel, the travel agency and tour operator, chose to exclusively focus on Zimbabwe, Mr Magodielo said the country had a variety of activities to offer the discerning tourist from scenery to mild adventure and adrenalin pumping activities.
He said Zimbabwe had a rich history and culture, safari and water activities.

“You name it and it’s all there. The greatest advantage is it’s all well within comfortable reach as far as distance goes,” Mr Magodielo said.
ExecuPlaytime Leisure and Travel’s operations in Southern Africa are premised on traditional values and modern ideas and it has been in existence for 15 years.
