R50 000 for Liquor Hub Fun Run

PREPARATIONS for the fourth edition of the Liquor Hub 10km Fun Run have begun with the organisers announcing prizes for this year’s 10km race scheduled for 16 December.

A member of the organising team, Stanford Mazura revealed they will be sponsoring the race to the tune of R50 000 with the winners in the senior men and women’s categories walking away with R5 000 each.

In an invitation notice, Mazura said senior men and women’s second-placed athletes will get R3 000 with the runner coming in third receiving R2 000.

The top three in the junior men and women’s categories will get R1 500, R1 000 and R500 respectively. The top two in both male and female wheel section will walk away with R2 000 and R1 500 respectively.

“We are delighted to be back with the Liquor Hub Fun Run and invite clubs, schools and companies to send participants to this important charity race.

“Registration fees remain the same as last year ($5 for seniors, $3 for juniors and $2 for charity walk).

“Registration payments can be made wherever you are via the following EcoCash (Merchant Code 18651) and RTGS, (Bank — NMB, Acc Name Pintail Trading, Acc No. 210251537 Branch Byo Main, Branch sort code 11311). Physical registration is ongoing at Liquor Hub in the city centre,” he said.

All proceeds from suppliers and registration fees plus groceries worth R10 000 will be donated to needy charities within the community.

Last year, Jacob Mugomeri came first in the senior men’s section ahead of Blessing Waison of Black Rhinos and Blanket Mine’s Christopher Gondwe while in the women’s category Patience Garauzive of the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services came first followed by Neviah Maganzo also of ZPCS and Zimbabwe Republic Police’s Annie Chirisa.
