Remember those who died for freedom: Zuma Jacob Zuma

The Sunday News

Bloemfontein — People should remember those who fought and died for South Africa’s freedom when they vote this week, SA President Jacob Zuma said on Friday. “If you vote for the ANC, you vote on behalf of the nation”, he told guests at an ANC fundraising gala dinner in Bloemfontein on Friday night. “I feel very strongly about elections, and for those who had thoughts about not voting for the ANC, they should change their minds and vote for the party.”

If the wrong people were to get into power, the country would suffer forever, he warned. All the opposition did was copy the ANC. “Every president of the ANC has been criticised before, but the party will take SA to prosperity,” he said.

Free State premier Ace Magashule said they had visited ANC veteran Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, and she had made an appeal that South Africans should ensure the party won the local government election.

“Don’t make a mistake and not vote for the ANC. If you vote for the ANC, you are voting for the future,” he said. He commended Zuma for being a “simple, humble leader of our masses”.

“He served the country when it was difficult. Mandela made sure that we reconcile, but it was during Jacob Zuma’s time that we have vision 2030. I am honoured to serve under him.” — News24
