ONE of South Africa’s leading battery manufacturing companies Dixon Premium Batteries is keen to invest in Zimbabwe, as it says there are broader and better business opportunities in the country.
The company which was a first time exhibitor at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair held in Bulawayo last week indicated that it had done a market research on Zimbabwe.

“We are in talks with several organisations and companies in Zimbabwe, where we hope to first supply our products before we establish a branch. We carried out our market research last year and we found that there is a huge demand for batteries in Zimbabwe. Our first consignment will be exported into Zimbabwe during the course of this month,” said Mr Johan Prinsloo, the national sales and new business development manager.

Dixon batteries analytical chemist Mr Peter Moses said once they established a branch in Zimbabwe they would be able to directly manufacture the batteries in Zimbabwe something that would also create employment for locals.
“We are not just seeking to expand but are also seeking to create employment in Zimbabwe,” said Mr Moses.

Dixon Premium Batteries is a manufacturer, distributor and recycler of lead acid batteries for all automotive, leisure, deep cycle and renewable energy applications.

“In accordance with our mission, the continuous manufacturing of quality products, while caring for the environment and delivering excellent service to customers at competitive prices, we are confident of achieving the vision of being the preferred supplier of lead-acid batteries in the Southern African region,” said Mr Moses.

“Our batteries carry the SABS mark of approval and ISO 9001: 2008 standards and have a performance and lifespan that will stand proud against any of our competitors.”

Mr Prinsloo added that the setting up of a company in Zimbabwe would therefore create employment opportunities.
“The process itself of setting up a company will definitely create vast employment opportunities. We hope that by investing in the country, we will be assisting in its industry revival. We understand there are a lot of jobless people in Zimbabwe with many of them having to leave the country to make ends meet but we want to assist the Government by creating job opportunities in Zimbabwe. This will also boost the country’s economy, while developing it,” said Mr Prinsloo.
