A SOUTH Africa based Zimbabwean born musician has released a sizzling six-track album, titled Vuk’zenzele, which is reportedly rocking the airwaves in that country.
The musician, Givemore Nkiwane, was born in Silobela but has been based in South Africa for the past couple of years in pursuit of his musical career.Visiting Zimbabwe about a fortnight ago, Nkiwane spoke to Sunday Leisure about his album, where he mentioned that his voice was often mistaken for Martin Sibanda of Ndolwane Super Sounds.

“This is my debut album, although I have been performing live on stage for the past few years. The title track of the album, Vuk’zenzele was inspired by the growing trend, where people are lazy to find work to make ends meet. I talk about a lot of social issues in the album and I hope it will inspire a lot of people here in Zimbabwe as well as it has done in South Africa,” he said.

Nkiwane said that he wrote the lyrics and composed the music.

“I write my own lyrics and compose my own music. I must say it is not an easy task but it is a talent that has been nurtured over the years. I find it easy to pen my own lyrics than to rely on a second or third party,” he said.

Nkiwane said he was part of a group called the Motivational Sounds, which comprised another Zimbabwean also based in South Africa.

“I am part of a group called the Motivational Sounds, which comprises another Zimbabwean. We have managed to touch the lives of many people through our music and hope to continue doing so. Now that we have managed to penetrate the radio, we hope to be noticed as a musical force,” he said.

Nkiwane added that the album was produced in South Africa and was available across the country and would make efforts to sign a deal with a local company so as to reach to his Zimbabwean fans.

“I am presently in talks with a local company that will have rights to distribute my music, as I not only seeking to touch the lives of South Africans but those of my fellow kinsmen,” he said.
