CANADA-BASED former AmaZulu and Zimbabwe Warriors goalkeeper Dominic Sithole last Thursday conducted a two-hour coaching session for up-and-coming ’keepers from Bulawayo.

The clinic, attended by 14 aspiring goalkeepers took place at Hartsfield Rugby Ground. The youngsters, aged from 12 to 17 are all part of the First Mobile Soccer Academy which is owned by another Zimbabwean, Isaac Mbedzi who is based in the Canadian city of Montreal. Sithole, domiciled in Edmonton is a dormant partner of Mbedzi run academy.

The 2003 championship winner with AmaZulu said they were looking to take some youngsters from Bulawayo to the Dana Cup in Denmark as well as the Gothia Cup in Sweden with both tournaments in July. Sithole said they had identified four lads from Bulawayo to go on the trips with their paperwork being worked on to make sure they travel to the European countries.

First is the Gothia Cup which runs from 16 to 22 July while the Dana Cup is scheduled to run from 24 up to 29 July.

“We are going to Sweden and Denmark for the Dana Cup and the Gothia Cup in July, we are looking at taking some of the youngsters from our academy, so far we have identified four good ones, we are sorting out their paperwork to make sure that they travel,’’ said Sithole.

On Friday, Sithole roped in his friend, South Africa based Tapuwa Kapini to have a motivational talk with some of the youngsters who are part of the academy to aim higher. Sithole pointed out that Kapini expressed his willingness to help more in whatever way he can. One of the ways he promised to support in was that whenever he gets any equipment he can send it to the aspiring footballers.
