The recently opened Snake Park, The Snake Pit, located in the Victoria Falls city centre has been receiving overwhelming response from both local and international tourists, according to the owners.

The Snake Pit which was opened two months ago has a variety of snakes that include the cobra specie, black mamba, rattle snakes, vipers, pythons and anacondas.

Manager Rina Greenland said the owner of the park had been collecting snakes from the age of six and now has a wide range of about 45 different snakes hence the decision to open a park and allow people to visit.

“At the Snake Pit, we allow visitors to hold the snakes and take pictures. We have an experienced guide who is knowledgeable on all the snakes,” she said, adding that there was no need for people to be scared.

Greenland said the park has been receiving visitors from all over the world including America, UK, Spain, Denmark, New Zealand as well as Australia to see some of the deadliest snakes in Africa.

This becomes the second snake park in the resort town with another located at NRZ Reserve close to the railway line along Adam Standler Avenue and Livingstone Way which focuses on breeding snakes in captivity, removing and relocating snakes from homes and providing guided tours.
