A few months after winning their first Zim hip-hop award together, local dance group Super Geeks have had to say goodbye to one of their members David Cooper who has left the country to further his professional dance career.

Cooper left Zimbabwe on Tuesday. Speaking to Sunday Life from China, Cooper could not contain his excitement and his anticipation for the new chapter in his life.

“I am really excited. Excited and nervous at the same time. Nervous because the entire experience is new to me. This is the first time I have had to work outside the country. Other than the experience of visiting an entirely new country, this will do a lot for my career. The exposure alone will be great and I will get to learn dance from different parts of the world and this will push my artistry to new heights.

“Leaving the Super Geeks is also strangely the saddest moment of my life but I have to be strong and look at the bigger picture. We might be in different parts of the world but I will always be a Geek at heart. And who knows? They might even have to join me here in the future,” Cooper said.

His fellow Super Geeks had nothing but positive hopes for one of their own. Pasha, the group’s spokesperson said he was sad to see Cooper leave but was very excited for what he was going to do.

“We are not just a dance crew, we are a family and obviously it’s sad to see one of us go away but more than that, we could not be happier for him. We have watched Cooper grow as a dancer and he is living proof that if you work hard, good things will happen for you,” Pasha said.
