The Sunday News

GENERALLY people gain or pack up more weight during the winter season and have a torrid time getting rid of it when summer beckons. Failing to fit into those elegant and sexy summer numbers is a far too familiar experience. While in South Africa, I happened to notice how so many people had taken up jogging and going to the gym as part of their hobbies or endeavours to lose weight.

Jogging and hitting the gym are both common methods people undertake to lose weight and generally stay fit and healthy.
If you gained weight this winter trust me you are not alone, it happened to many people. Don’t fret! Summer is in the air and it’s finally time to shed your winter coat and reverse the winter weight gain.
Get off to a good start by checking out the solutions to some all-too-common weight loss challenges.

Every choice you make might not be perfect when it comes to dieting and weight loss.
But that’s not necessary for you to reach your goal. Instead, strive to do your best on most days. If and when you do slip-up, shake it off and get right back on track at your very next meal — or the very next day. A good looking body boosts one’s confidence and of course adds glam to fashion.
Always remember, nobody gains weight from one rich dinner or a single slice of cake.
It is when you allow that one splurge to catapult into an all-out eating frenzy. Of course in winter you could get away with the explanation that your body was packing up on extra weight to stay warm but get rid of it now!

Take it one meal at a time and learn to forgive yourself; every dieter has slip-ups, but the successful ones know how to keep those occasional lapses contained.
I spoke to a fitness trainer in South Africa who said eating breakfast everyday was essential for those that aim at losing weight.

“Studies show that eating breakfast actually helps weight loss and is associated with better weight control over time. When you eat breakfast, your body feels nourished and satisfied, making you less likely to over-eat the rest of the day,” said Mbali Ngcobo.

He said breakfast doesn’t need to be complicated but healthy choices are required.
“Make time for a quick and nutritious breakfast such as whole grain cereal, low-fat milk and fresh fruit. It is less time consuming and very healthy,” he said.
Ngcobo also said people shouldn’t rush to buying health foods as most of them did the exact opposite.
“Some of these foods are highly processed, filled with artificial ingredients, and lacking in nutrients. It’s no wonder so many people on diets feel fatigued, less focused, and wanting more.

“One of the best ways to stay energised and on track with your weight loss plan is to eat nutrient-rich foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, among many other protein foods,” he said.

Back to last week’s topic big booties and butts! I am absolutely dazed and definitely in awe at how some women can be so ignorant to the fact that some enhancement products come with side effects.

In my last weeks’ instalment – Booty enhancement: pros and cons – I spoke of how butt enlargement had become a trending phenomenon in South Africa and obviously the world.
Judging from the feedback I have received concerning the article, it would appear that women really aren’t concerned about the repercussions of booty, let alone body enhancement products.

Most ladies instead of asking about the side effects seemed not to be worried about their health and instead demanded that I advise them where these products could be found.
These are dangerous products and can cause serious harm to your health all for the sake of having a colossus butt!
Well, just for the sake of these ladies that have big butts and those wishing to have big butts read what I found on the internet below:

12 problems only girls with big butts understand
Today is a perfect time to be endowed in the posterior region. Between Kim Kardashian and J-Lo, big butts are all the rage but as bootylicious girls know, there are certainly draw backs.

1. No jeans fit correctly, ever.
There is no middle ground. You either can’t pull them up over your butt or you get a massive gap at the waist.

2. All skirts and dresses are too short at the back.
Love your work friendly pencil skirt? From behind, it is more nightclub friendly.

3. Forget squeezing between restaurant tables.
Not just restaurant tables, movie theatre aisles, too. You butt is an entity unto itself and unfortunately ends up in people’s faces while you try to slip through.

4. Every seating struggle ever.
Barstools lead to spillage, you take up extra space when sharing seats and sitting on someone’s lap never seems to go according to plan.

5. You’ve flashed a little crack more times than you care to think about.
Have you ever considered a career as a plumber?

6. People assume you’ve got mad moves to go with your booty.
Your backside may have its own gravitational pull but that doesn’t mean you know how to twerk.

7. You still have an embarrassing spiritual connection to Sir-Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back”.
Before you had learned to embrace your beautiful curves, this song gave you hope.

8. Trying to work the cute baggy boyfriend jeans trend has two results:
You either look like you’re homeless or you look like you’re huge. Two terrible looks.

9. Your butt eats underwear for breakfast
There is no other way to say it. If you skip thongs, you’re in for a permanent wedgie.

10. Running shorts are a distant fantasy
Unless you enjoy your shorts riding higher and higher with every step then you can get away with it.

11. Finding a cute bikini is impossible
Mix and match options are your friend. Otherwise, you’re stuck choosing between your butt hanging out or saggy granny bottoms.

12. Guys are always grabbing your butt
Not that you are really complaining but sometimes, the rest of you could use some love too.
