FORMER Highlanders FC player and coach Barry Daka says Madinda Ndlovu is on the right path by introducing a fresh Highlanders squad comprising youngsters for the 2018 Castle PSL season campaign.
Ndlovu trimmed all of the senior players from the first team and promoted some players from the Highlanders developmental side Bosso 90 after taking up the position as the technical manager.
Nigel Makumbe, Maclive Phiri, Munyaradzi Chitambwe and former Zimbabwe U-20 captain Patrick Musaka were some of the new faces unveiled by the legend last Sunday in a friendly match against Shurugwi based outfit Nichrut FC at Luveve Stadium.
Veteran player Eric Mudzingwa, attacking midfielder Simon Munawa and defender Tendai Ngulube were among the senior players who were released from the club upon the arrival of Ndlovu.
Daka, now part of Bulawayo City, who is praised as a legend for his contribution to Zimbabwean football said he was elated with the route that Madinda has chosen to take regarding the former Bulawayo giants.
“He is on the right path and I am pleased with the decision he made with Highlanders to promote youngsters into the senior team.
“I think he is on the right track with team, because he is a former player and always has been there, he also grew up there at Highlanders and came up from the club’s development structures,” he said.
“So l am fully behind Ndlovu because knows the importance of junior policy.
“Other players who were identified and nurtured from the club’s junior structures are Peter Ndlovu, Adam Ndlovu and Willard Khumalo to name a few who became legends of the game in their own respect.
Zenzo Moyo is one of players who were identified by Highlanders as young players who became marvellous goal scorers, which owed to talent search among junior footballers,” Daka added.
