HIP-HOP artiste Vinnie King, real name Ricco Andrews has proved that he is a force to reckon with through his successful album launch held last Saturday at Bulawayo Public Library hall.
The album titled The Full package consists of 13 tracks which touch on different genres like Afro-pop, Soul, House music and gospel.
“I dubbed it the Full package because I didn’t want to limit myself in terms of sound. This is one of my best works I have done so far and I hope that people will embrace it. I appreciate how people responded during the launch by coming in their numbers,” Vinnie said.
The tracks feature Ashleigh Love and Icon among others. Speaking about how he got to do his album launch and it being a success, King said he did not want the launch to be all about him, but something that will leave a mark in the city of Kings.
“I didn’t want the launch to be only about me. I also wanted to give my fellow artistes a platform to perform. I wanted to bring back the vibe in the city whereby fans and artistes get to socialise with each other and vibe together. This inspired me to title the event ‘The Vibe’. As Bulawayo we need to restore that vibe we had before. I remember when I was still with my crew Antivirus we used to do concerts every weekend that attracted people in their huge numbers, so I just thought why not bring that back. I’m hoping to do a lot of those shows with the support from my colleagues,” he said.
The event started with the man of the moment taking to the stage with his break dancing moves, joining him on stage was T1nda, Madamara aka K.G, Icon, Ashleigh love and R.APEEZY among others. Their presence made the launch more magical as they performed with a lot of energy.
“It is a privilege having my fellow colleagues joining me up on stage and delivering to our audience who had come expectant. I also want to give thanks to Alliance Francaise De Bulawayo, Zimbo music, Diamond berry music, for all their effortless support towards the success of the launch as well as Ilduce Dynasty for producing the great quality music,” he said.
Vinnie King has been on international stage with Kuli Chana, Mandoza, Zahara and has won many awards including his choreography work.
