Vice-President Phelekezela Mpokho is expected to officiate at the Commissioner-General’s Goodwill Fund Golf Tournament organised by the Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Bulawayo Metro Province.

The event, with a game format called Four Ball Better Ball (4BBB), is slated for the Harry Allen Golf Club in Bulawayo on 28 May.

The ZPCS Commissioner-General’s Goodwill Golf tournament is cascading downwards to the organisation’s 10 administrative province with the inaugural tournament having been held in Harare last year.

In interview with Sunday Life ZPCS Bulawayo Metro Province Public Relations Officer Principal Prison Officer (PPO) Garainesu Moyo confirmed the development.

“We would like the Comissioner-General to invite on our behalf the Vice-President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Phelekezela Mpokho, who is also the club member at Harry Allen Golf Club to be part of our invited players,” said Moyo.

The Commissioner-General’s Goodwill Trust Fund was launched in 2011 by ZPCS’s Commissioner-General Retired Major General Paradzai Willis Zimondi to provide various forms of support to members of the ZPCS and their dependants.

Proceeds from the Trust Fund are meant to help vulnerable members of the Correctional Institution.

“It provides material, mental, physical and social needs to widows, widowers and children of deceased officers, as well as helping serving members befallen with some calamities and those who would have been incapacitated during the discharge of their duties,” he said.

Moyo added that the fund was boosted by various income generating projects.

“In order to boost the Fund’s coffers various incoming generating activities have been undertaken and this includes hosting of Fund Raising Dinners and Golf Tournaments coupled with some auctions and sale of notable items.”

Moyo noted that that despite some economic challenges in 2014 the Trust Fund had managed to extend some help to the needy.

“Courtesy of the Commissioner-General’s Trust Fund school and examination fees were paid for 122 orphans and 124 beneficiaries received some farming inputs, “said Moyo
