THE Zimbabwe National Liberation War Collaborators’ Association in Bulawayo has resolved that the upcoming Zanu-PF national congress in December should endorse the party’s national chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo to take over the vacant vice-presidency and that his current post be given to the national chairman of Zimbabwe War Veterans Association, Cde Jabulani Sibanda.

The collaborators in Bulawayo province gathered yesterday at Entumbane war veterans’ offices to discuss their future and their expectations concerning the Zanu-PF congress.

Speaking at the meeting, provincial chairman, Cde Douglas Gangaidzo, said as collaborators they were guided by tradition as to who should take up the key posts in Zanu-PF.

“On the Vice-President’s post which was left vacant after the late Vice-President Dr John Landa Nkomo passed away, the tradition has been that the national chairman is elevated to the position of Vice-President. Therefore, it is against this background that as collaborators we are guided by tradition and we have the current national chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo who should take over as the new Vice-President,” said Cde Gangaidzo.

“The national chairman’s post should be given to the national chairman of the war veterans, Cde Jabulani Sibanda, for his commitment to the party and the nation at large.”

Cde Gangaidzo added that as collaborators they felt that all their problems would be resolved once the two were in office.
“After having said all this, as collaborators we resolve also that the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Cde Robert Mugabe, should remain the First Secretary of the party and should lead it up to the 2018 general elections. We also support the women’s league’s resolution of nominating Cde Grace Mugabe as secretary for women’s affairs in the party,” he said.

Zanu-PF Politburo member Cde Joshua Malinga said there was nothing more important than the structures of the party because they were the vehicle the leadership travels in.

“I declare myself a friend of what is happening here in Entumbane. We are doing all these things because we want to continue building our party. We must stop fighting over land and this issue of tribalism. Last week we attended a Politburo meeting, and I can tell you that we are going forward as a party. We discussed many things there, that will bring unity because united we stand and divided we fall,” Cde Malinga said.
