A YOUTHFUL rap clique — TearDream Kings — hailing from Bulawayo’s New Lobengula suburb is probably a step closer to living their dream and making a breakthrough in the mainstream rap industry, as a budding South African entertainment and music stable wants to sign them on.

Formed in 2013, the clique comprises three members Bret “Rammz” Ngwenya, Frank “Franklin” Mhlanga and Ronald “Slim Swaggy” Sibanda are likely to be signed to Cash Time Life from South Africa, which is co-owned by one of that country’s young successful rappers to emerge from this era K.O.

The ecstatic group revealed the plans by the stable to take them on, after they posted their communiqué on Facebook.

“ . . . Great to see that you are investing in your work like shooting a video . . . Song still needs a lot of work, but keep at it, one day it will pay off . . . ,” read part of the statement written to them by Cash Time Life, which they posted on Facebook.

In an interview, one of the young rappers told Sunday Life that they had met with representatives from Cash Time Life on twitter and were then advised to send some of their material, as the stable wants to sign five artistes from across Africa.

“They approached me via e-mail, telling us they wanted to sign five artistes from anywhere in Africa. We then sent three songs and a video to our hit Bhekela Phansi, which we want to remix and feature K.O.

“We were then advised to come to South Africa to finalise the deal and I am leaving for SA early next week, while the other two members will be following as soon as schools close,” said Bret, the leader of the group.

To date the group has released 10 singles and a single video and are working on their debut album, which they will call Tables Turn.

“We have produced and released one music video, which has been for the past three weeks topped the chats on ZBC’s Young Gifted and Talented show. We will be releasing our album and another video in September,” said Bret.

Members of the group are all aged between 18 and 19 and have curtain raised for South Africa’s Big Nuz in Bulawayo.
“We have a few collaborations with some of Zimbabwe’s established musicians such as Tehn Diamond, POY and Trevor Dongo to mention a few,” added Bret.

The TearDream Kings have also performed at the annual Kalawa Homecoming concerts and the Bulawayo Bigger than Hip-Hop show.
