NEWLY-UNVEILED DSTV channel, Zambezi Magic which called for local content said it is  impressed by the response and cooperation it has received so far from local producers and artistes.
The channel was launched in July and aims at promoting southern African productions and artistes by giving them a fair platform to showcase their work to a bigger audience as well as compete on a regional basis. The channel called for local content producers to send their productions so as to diversify their television content which was initially flooded by South African productions.

In an interview with Sunday Leisure the head of the channel Addiel Dzinoreva said they were impressed by the cooperation that they were getting from local producers.

“The response we have received after announcing our call for local content has been great, there is a lot of excitement in the industry and I wish it remains the same,” he said.

Dzinoreva also confirmed that they were also impressed by the quality adding that the quality that they have been receiving meets their standards.

“We are not stressed about quality; most of what we have received is very impressive and meets our standards. We want to grow with our producers and as the channel grows, the industry grows as well and the quality will no doubt improve. We want stories and content that will get viewers excited about watching our channel,” said Dzinoreva.

In the mean time the Zambezi Magic production team is searching for movie scripts and they have also secured a number of productions from local talented producers.

“We have movies such as Maria’s Vision and Dust & Fortune coming up and plenty more only from Zimbabwe. We also have great content coming from the rest of the region,” he said.

Dzinoreva added that local content would be showcased with effect from this month and a number of great reality shows were ready for broadcasting.

“From this month, you will start seeing local content on Zambezi Magic. We have a cooking show called Wine and Dine with Tumi Moleka where she invites Zim celebrities to cook, wine and dine with her in her kitchen. We also have a talk show called Tonight with Zororo hosted by the talented Zororo Makamba and the comedy crew Zambezi News will be on air in December,” he added.
