THE Zimbabwe Defence Forces will provide free medical assistance to communities around the country and also hand over projects built by the army as part of the organisation’s Community Assistance Programme.

The ZDF Community Assistance Programme is done every year ahead of the Heroes and Zimbabwe Defence Forces days.

Zimbabwe will commemorate Heroes Day and Zimbabwe Defence Forces Day on 13 and 14 August. In a statement, the Ministry of Defence and War Veterans Affairs  said the programme will run from tomorrow until Friday.

“Medical outreach teams will provide free medical, dental and pharmaceutical assistance at Mushandike Clinic in Masvingo and Rutanhira Clinic in Chikomba District throughout the Community Assistance Week. Beneficiary communities should not miss the free medical treatment opportunities,”

Other highlights of the week will include the handing over of projects that were carried out by the ZDF. Some of the projects include lecture rooms at the Reformed Church University in Masvingo on Wednesday where the ZDF Community Assistance Week will also be officially launched.

The ZDF will also hand over ECD classrooms at St Mannocks, Mt Hampden in Zvimba District and an ECD block at Redcliff Primary School in Kwekwe on Thursday. On Friday the ZDF will hand over a classroom block at Kwekwe Primary school in the Midlands.
