Zim squash team for All-Africa Junior Champs

A 10-MEMBER Zimbabwe team leaves the country tomorrow for the All-Africa Junior Squash Championships in Gaborone, Botswana. The annual Uder-19 event runs from tomorrow until Monday with eight countries set to battle it out in a tournament where Zimbabwe and South Africa are fielding two teams each.

Pat Izzet, the Zimbabwe Squash Association honorary president said the national team was chosen at the Zimbabwe Junior Championships staged in Bulawayo last month. Ahmed Hassan and Blessing Muhwati are the boys’ coaches while Izzet will mentor the girls.

At the same competition last year held in Windhoek in Namibia, Zimbabwe settled for third spot with South Africa second and Egypt in first place.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Squash Association chairman Lucky Mlilo is also heading for Botswana where he will be the tournament referee for the continental Junior Championships.

Mlilo who is still working towards getting World Squash Federation international recognition performed the same role last year.

Callum Lawton, Luke Mannion, Crispen Chimborowa, Damon Balneaves, Ethan Porter, Nick Joughin, Danielle Cunningham, Carley Barton, Jade Pinkney and Kuzi Madunga.
