ZIMBABWE or rather the City of Kings will soon play host to one of the world’s recently launched prestigious pageants — the Mr and Mrs One World Heritage pageant.

The pageant, which will be in its second year running is the brainchild of South Africa, seeks to promote African Heritage, through engaging youths and adults through various platforms.

In an interview with Sunday Life, organisers of the event, who were in Zimbabwe seeking partnership with some of the country’s renowned modelling schools said they had intentions of partnering in Zimbabwe in promoting traditions and heritage.

“Zimbabwe is one of the few countries that boast of having a rich heritage and still practice tradition, while upholding it, hence our interest in partnering it. The pageant will also hold a schools festival,” said Ayanda Magagula the production manager of the event.

Castings in Zimbabwe will be held once finalisation with local partners is done. The finals of the event will be held in Dubai in October this year, while the awards of the event will be held in Swaziland in December.

“These events are meant to promote love, peace, unity and our beauty and heritage as a people.

“This organisation through the pageant is the only one that provides equal and limitless opportunities to juniors nine to 14 years, teens 15 to 18 years and young adults 19 to 25 years in both the pageant and the schools arts festival. Furthermore teachers and parents are also afforded the extra opportunity to be directly involved by encouraging and supporting kids during the programme. Parents will also travel with their children, an arrangement that is meant to ensure that their children are safe, free and relaxed. We stand 100 percent against human trafficking and xenophobia and child abuse,” said Magagula.

He went on to state that entries were open and that they awaited interested individuals to submit their profiles, as soon as logistics were sorted.

“Winners of the pageant will walk away with
100 000 cash in South African rands and winners of the schools festival would walk away with 60 000 rands, arts equipment, bursaries, and a trip around the Sadc.

Magagula added that they would also bring on board South African musician Winnie Khumalo to promote the event.
