PLUMTREE artiste Zakata Moyo (34) who owns ZKT studios in South Africa in Thembisa who has made a prevalent mark by helping Zimbabwean artistes who are based in the neighbouring country, vows to leave a mark in the music industry as a producer and a music teacher.

Moyo said he started the studio when he used to record beats and rhythms just for fun, but it all changed when one of the artistes from Tsholotsho asked him to record his album.

“I used to own a mini studio and I just produced beats and rhythms for fun and the hobby changed into a profession when Fisani Dube from Tsholotsho asked me to record his album (Phendula baba ma usekhona) last year in June and since then I have never looked back,” said Moyo.

ZKT Studio is only one year old but it has managed to record three albums by different artistes.

“I am getting positive results as I have managed to record 3 albums that are selling by different artistes and for now I have five artistes recording under ZKT Studio”, said Zakata.

Zakata said he is overwhelmed by the support he has received from Zimbabweans based in South Africa.

“The majority of artistes under ZKT come from Zimbabwe and I am humbled by the support I have received from my fellow countrymen”, he said

He also revealed to us that he does not just record and master music but he also teaches artistes to play the guitar.

“ZKT is a studio and also a school as I teach some boys how to play a guitar and other instruments.”

He further said working in South Africa is an advantage as he is now making a living out of it and he will spread his wings when he is ripe and when he has enough equipment.

“My dream is to have a studio at home (Zimbabwe), but I will only do that when I have gathered enough experience and adequate equipment, but I am sure it is possible as we are growing everyday,” said Moyo.
