THERE are a couple of Zimbabweans reportedly involved in a South African tender scandal, which is said to soon be likely to be exposed in that country.

The Zimbabweans, who are rich businessmen are said to be fingered in the scam, as they “illegally” got the tenders through some of their friends in certain ministerial offices in South Africa.

Some of the multi-million rand tenders, which include construction of penitentiaries and schools are said to have been awarded to them after they paid bribes to some officials in South Africa. Since the recent “mishaps” in SA’s parliament, some people close to the ministers are threatening to expose them and their Zimbabwean friends.

One of the businessmen recently gave some soccer legends a tough time, after he refused to pay them for a match played against his South African team in Bulawayo a while ago.

These businessmen have built quite outlandish and extravagant homes for themselves both in their rural areas and in the city.

Some locals or rather former friends say they deem themselves untouchable because of the wealth they have accumulated through these bogus deals with South African officials. They are also said to be in good ties with some top local politicians and think they are above the law and are untouchable.

Word from South Africa is that some South Africans are not very amused by the way these Zimbabweans are consistently awarded tenders at their expense.
