ZPC KARIBA ensured their place in the top flight league after they fought from behind to force a draw against Hwange at Nyamhunga yesterday.

Penalty kick specialist Raphael Manuvire and the ageless Thomas Sweswe scored in the second half to snatch a draw that lifted ZPC Kariba to 35 points and to safety.

Hwange went to half time leading 2-0 courtesy of goals by Rodwell Chinyengetere and Innocent Mucheneka. It has been a season to forget for the electricians who just last year lost the Premier League title on the last day of the campaign but had to contend with a bruising battle against relegation this term.

Chidzambwa paid tribute to his boys for a spirited comeback.

“They showed great character especially in the second half, coming back from two nil down is not easy. We are now safe from relegation and we will go and play Highlanders in the last fixture without any pressure,” said a relieved Chidzambwa.

Hwange coach Nation Dube blamed his team’s crumble to poor match officiating.

“We could have won this match had the referee not spoiled our party. A top eight finish is something possible for a team like ours but with this kind of match officiating it becomes a tall order,” said Dube.
