ZIMBABWE Rainbow Democratic Party (ZRDP) is hoping to clinch all the seven National Assembly seats it is contesting for as part of its efforts to offer diverse representation in Parliament.

ZRDP president Mr Cuthbert Ncube said the party was using the 30 July harmonised elections as a spring board to fortify its structures to vigorously contest in the 2023 elections.

“ZRDP is not merely contesting in the elections but offers an alternative voice to the masses. We are a party of choice. We are not pushing for votes but setting a development agenda for the future. Let us shun the dependency syndrome that eroded our society but embrace self reliance. We are open to all in the belief that each one of us will add so much needed quality to our operations. Doors stand wide open to all and are welcome under an interim steering committee because we seriously believe that leaders are chosen by the people instead of imposing themselves,” said Mr Ncube.

He said ZRDP was a political party driven by Christian values with its emphasis being to deliver the populace of Zimbabwe from various economic challenges.

“ZRDP is driven by Christian values and principles. We hold a strong believe in God and stand guided in faith with good works. Our vision stretches to beyond the aspect of representing the people. It is anchored on serving the people of Zimbabwe, making one another accountable for our live.

“I am my brothers’ keeper, we owe our lives to one another. This party is of God-fearing leaders that know how to combine intelligence with the physical and spiritual demands of everyday life. In serving our people, we beseech God to always show us the way,” said Mr Ncube.

He said part of the economic challenges, devilling the country were a result of poor policies.

“Our priority as a party is righting the economic front of our country. I do not have to narrate any of the ills affecting our economy due to badly crafted policies, incompetence and corruption. We are here to create a conducive business and economic atmosphere for local regional and international investment while empowering our people with skills and resources for meaningful contribution towards sustainable economic growth. We will ensure, through sound policies, that a stable fiscal environment is sustained to avoid erosion of the peoples’ investments and savings,” said Mr Ncube.

He said the party was also advocating for devolution as it pushes for decentralisation of power and resources.

“We as a party guarantee to our people that we will push the agenda of devolution of power forward. Our people must control their destiny, the right to self determination. The future is bright with ZRDP as we have an open door policy to economic reconstruction. In years to come, individuals ought to be economically independent so as to raise healthy and confident families,” said Mr Ncube.

He said there was a need to revive the country’s health and social delivery services.

“We must modernise our health care system so that the facilities are both accessible and affordable to all Zimbabweans. We will make our health care facilities the best to such an extent that even the President of the country can be treated locally.

“Our social services will also take care of the most vulnerable in our society and ascertain that no one picks refuse for food.

Our roads must be expanded and immediately maintained to handle the volume of traffic while minimising carnage on our highways,” said Mr Ncube.
