HARARE based organisation 4-H Zimbabwe Foundation will on Wednesday launch a nationwide digital platform for youth entrepreneurs meant at celebrating their efforts in their various sectors.

Youths in the agriculture sector will be at the forefront as it is one of the backbone of the country’s economy and President Mngangwa led Government is making efforts of reviving the sector in order to increase the country’s food security.

In an interview today, 4-H Zimbabwe Foundation programmes officer Ms Ruth Chomola said the initiative was inspired by this year’s theme of International Youth Day which focuses on youth engagement for global action.

“The initiative is to celebrate youth who are making inroads in different sectors with the agriculture sector included and was motivated by this years International Youth Day theme that focuses on Youth engagement for global action.

“The mission is to empower and capacitate youths to be responsible, caring and contributing leaders that effect positive change around them,” said Ms Chomola.

Ms Chomola said the virtual conference to be held on their social media platform will also include a competition for the youth entrepreneurs where five will be awarded ZWL1 500 for their community successful projects with deadline for submission of their work slated for August 11 while winners will be announced on August 12.

“We decided on a competition that celebrates and also reveals the good work that young people are participating in form of community level to facilitate for development of the country.

“Interested youths are invited to send video presentations of how they have spearheaded or participated in engagements at local/community/national and global level. We also want to hear from youth representing us and making inroads in agriculture.

“We chose the use of social media to also enable visibility for youth led initiatives that are benefitting communities and should be given due credit and support.

Zimbabwe has intelligent, hardworking youth and we appreciate how the future of Zimbabwe is in their hands,” she said.

Ms Chomola said the organisation seeks to make it clear that the future is now.
