VICE-President Emmerson Mnangagwa will on Friday hand over facilities and apparatus used during Zimbabwe’s staging of the African Union Region Five Under-20 Games in December last year at a ceremony to be held at the Bulawayo Swimming Pool.
Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Andrew Langa said VP Mnangagwa will hand over renovated facilities to the Bulawayo City Council, equipment to national associations and medication to local hospitals.

“Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa has confirmed that he is handing over refurbished facilities to the Bulawayo City Council, equipment to the respective national associations and drugs which remained to the hospitals.

“All the equipment used during the Region 5 Games will not be moved, it is remaining in Bulawayo as part of the legacy of the Games, those are the wishes of President Robert Mugabe which we are implementing,’’ said Langa.

The Minister revealed that the equipment was safely stored at Hillside Teachers College awaiting the official handover.
Bulawayo Swimming Pool, White City Stadium, Hillside Teachers College, Luveve Stadium, Bulawayo Athletic Club and Barbourfields Stadium were the sporting venues which got a facelift to meet international standards in order for Zimbabwe to successfully stage the regional games.
