THE 5th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Charity Golf Challenge has been set for 1 May. Initially the fund-raising tourney was set for 23 April but the date was moved to 1 May following the postponement of the ZITF which was then scheduled for 21 to 25 April before being moved to 28 April to 2 May. The one day tourney will be staged at the Bulawayo Golf Club during the 56th edition of the annual trade showcase.

Participating in this year’s version of the challenge tourney will be captains of industry from both the private and public sector.
Minister of Industry and Commerce Mike Bimha, a golfing enthusiast, will fancy his chances against over 80 business leaders, foreign dignitaries as well as Government ministers both local and from other countries.

In an update pertaining to the ZITF preparations last week, the ZITF Company general manager Nomathemba Ndlovu revealed the beneficiary of the tourney, which would be Esandleni Sothando — a local Christian outreach initiative which provides assistance to vulnerable girls in high density urban areas.

“All is set for the tourney and the proceedings of the Golf challenge contest will be directed towards a local Christian outreach initiative that provides assistance to vulnerable girls in high density areas which is Esandleni Sothando,” said Ndlovu.

Steward Bank is this year’s sponsor of the tournament.
Andrew Tawedzera and Kim Horgchee were the previous winners of the competition while Collin Bhebhe and Benjamin Shoko emerged as runners-up.
The green fee is at $60 per player, while there would be a prize-giving ceremony at the same venue after the tournament.
