A DIVIDED Highlanders membership meets this morning at it reviews the first half of the year which has been tumultuous with various challenging issues facing the club.

The annual mid-year review meeting is likely to be pressed for time with members having to leave early attend Highlanders’ Premiership clash with Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium.

Media relations officer, Ronald Moyo said members would have to ensure they arrive on time and quickly wrap up the agenda but with an emotive meeting expected this is unlikely to happen.

Bosso’s difficult start to the season is likely to come up for discussion and members would be seeking answers on how a year that started on a promising note unravelled as the senior team found it difficult to win matches and sit in an unenviable position on the log.

Following last year’s rebuilding embarked on by the club led by former technical manager, there had been hope Bosso would be challenging for honours this year and members were expecting to see a build-up on the success achieved last year.

Having played 13 matches played, Bosso find themselves two points above the relegation spot and with only 15 points to their name and seven goals, the lowest in the log, it is one of the side’s worst starts to a season in living memory.

The suspension of vice-chairman, Modern Ngwenya and secretary, Israel Moyo tops the list of issues that members want clarified with some moaning on social media that the pair was being unfairly persecuted while some feel the board acted rightly in taking action.

The two were found guilty by a tribunal setup by the board, as per the club’s constitution, and sentenced to serve an effective one-year ban from holding any leadership posts.

However, because the matter it is still to be finalised after the duo reportedly appealed the sentence, it could be marked as sub-judice and the authorities may ask that its discussion be deferred until the appeal is heard.

Meanwhile, expelled executive members, Modern Ngwenya as well as Israel Moyo have appealed the sentence handed down by the club’s disciplinary tribunal, albeit in protest.

The two, who were vice-chairman and secretary general respectively, were effectively pushed out of the clubs’ leadership structures when the Matthew Sibindi led tribunal ruled the duo should not hold any position at Highlanders for two years, with each getting a year of that sentence suspended. Ngwenya and Moyo had been given until last Monday to appeal that sentence.

In communication sent by their lawyer Byron Sengweni of Sengweni Law Practice, the duo indicated that they were appealing both the conviction and sentence because there is no provision empowering the board of trustees to hear their appeals.
