Botswana plans repatriation of 45 bus crash victims

THE Botswana government will repatriate the bodies of the 45 bus crash victims once the process of identification has been completed.

The fatal bus accidenfiery bus ct claimed the lives of 45 people after a bus from Molepolole carrying 46 occupants headed to Moria in South Africa fell off a bridge near Mokopane, Limpopo on Thursday.

An eight year old girl has been confirmed the only survivor from the horrific accident. When addressing members of the St Engenas church in Molepolole yesterday, the Minister of Defence and Security Kagiso Mmusi said the Botswana and South African governments were engaging on plans to repatriate the bodies for burial.

Mmusi said officials from the Botswana and the South African side are busy at work to identify the bodies, a process which will require patience as it may take time.

He said officials from both countries were busy to ensure that the process is completed and the bodies are repatriated to for proper burials.

“Please bear with us as this is not an easy process and it may be lengthy. Be patient because we are currently engaging with the South African government to assist us in this process, and we are sure they will as they understand the situation we are in. We will ensure that the bodies are repatriated to give the victims proper burial,” Mmusi said. – Mmegi Online.
