THE Botswana Under-19 national rugby team will participate in the two-day annual Power Sales Schools Rugby Festival at Hartsfield Rugby Ground in Bulawayo starting on Friday. Tournament director Kizito Muhomba said the neighbouring country had initially said they were committed to sending three teams to the two-day rugby fiesta but later opted for one.

Botswana were represented by their national Under-19 side in 2012 at the same festival where they won 20-16 against Milton High while drawing 13-13 against Christian Brothers College.

The visitors have been slotted in to play the main matches on both days with an encounter against Midlands Christian College on Friday and then CBC the following day, in a match that is expected to attract a huge crowd.

A new addition to the schools rugby pre-season tournament is the introduction of girls rugby with Girls High from Harare expected to field two teams. Bulawayo teams, Pumula, Nkulumane, Sikhulile and Sobukhazi are also expected to take part in the tourney.

A lot of rugby is in store for rugby enthusiasts at the festival with draft fixtures sent out by Muhomba showing 60 matches to be played over the two days.

Fans should expect some exciting displays from Botswana Under-19, CBC, Petra, Plumtree, Churchill, MCC, Prince Edward, Milton and Allan Wilson.
Most of the schools would be using the tournament to fine tune for the Dairibord Schools Rugby Festival at Prince Edwards next month.
