OLD Mutual Zimbabwe in partnership with Tag Rugby Trust is playing a significant role in empowering children and promoting positive development through the power of rugby.

Through yearly grants, Old Mutual Zimbabwe contributes to running leagues throughout the year, nurturing the development of young athletes.

To date, more than 10,000 children have benefited.

Old Mutual Zimbabwe has been a proud sponsor of Tag Rugby Trust since 2011, supporting the organization’s mission to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people across the country.

Tag Rugby Trust is a charitable organization dedicated to building futures through rugby and utilizes the transformative potential of the sport to engage and educate children.

With Old Mutual’s support, the trust has reached thousands of young individuals, imparted valuable life lessons, and helped them become better individuals.

The impact of Tag Rugby Trust’s work has been remarkable, positively affecting the lives of over 10,000 children to date.

By utilizing rugby as a vehicle for personal growth and community development, the trust has created opportunities for young athletes to thrive and succeed.

Old Mutual Zimbabwe’s Group Marketing, Public Affairs and Sustainability Executive Lillian Mbayiwa expressed their ongoing commitment to supporting Tag Rugby Trust, shedding light on the reason behind Old Mutual’s generous donations.

“Old Mutual has been a proud sponsor of Tag Rugby Trust since 2011.

“Through our yearly grants, we contribute to running leagues throughout the year, nurturing the development of young athletes,” she said.

In 2016 and 2017, Tag Rugby made efforts to include children and volunteers from outside the main high-density areas.

In 2018, they extended their reach to children with learning difficulties through the I Am Able Through Rugby program and vulnerable girls aged 12 to 18 through the Female Inspiration Through Rugby program.

Mbayiwa emphasised that Old Mutual’s support aligns with their overarching mission of doing great things every day.

“As a company deeply rooted in the community, we recognize the significance of empowering young individuals and fostering their holistic growth,” she added.

The calendar of events for this year’s Old Mutual Zimbabwe and Tag Rugby Trust collaboration is packed with exciting activities and opportunities for community engagement.

It kicked off on May 3 with the Young Leader Training at the TRT Hub.

Activities are also lined up in Mutare, Harare, Chinhoyi, and Gweru, where tournaments will take place, promoting the spirit of sportsmanship and community unity.

In addition to the tournaments, career guidance sessions will be held in Harare, Mutare, Chinhoyi, and Bindura, providing invaluable support and mentorship to young individuals.

The calendar also features events such as the Marondera Senior Tag, Plumtree Tournament, Masvingo Tournament, and a tournament in Bulawayo.
