THEY might have struggled last season and barely survived relegation from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League but Bulawayo Chiefs continue to set the trends on the local football scene.
From being the only local football team to have a verified Twitter account with over 32 000 followers on that platform, Amakhosi Amahle have not stopped there as they now have an up running online store. Supporters and sympathisers of Bulawayo Chiefs can now order the club’s apparel online.
Available for the local markets are replica shirts priced at ZWL$2 500, travel golf T-shirts which are going for ZWL$1 875, branded golf T-shirts with a price tag of ZWL$1 250 and T-shirts with catchy inscriptions such as “Anjalo Ama Sports”, “Ebhoreni Akula John Cena” that have been promoted by the club on Twitter which cost ZWL$1 000.
For the Diaspora market, those based outside the country can purchase the club’s replica shirts which are priced at US$30.
Chiefs media officer, Thulani “Javas” Sibanda said the online store was up and running with several payment methods being accepted. Orders are delivered across the country by courier at an extra cost.
“The online store is up and running and our clients can pay using various payment methods such as EcoCash, OneMoney and card payments. We use local couriers to send across the country such as Courier Connect, Fedex, subject to company delivery times and policy,’’ Sibanda said.
Looking at the popularity of the club, if that could translate to purchases on the online store, Chiefs could earn the much-needed revenue.
