MADLAMBUZI Business Centre has been upgraded to Bulilima District’s service centre a development that will see more than 150 families around the area being relocated to pave way for space to build a suburb and some industries.

Bulilima District had no service centre unlike its sister district — Mangwe which has Ingwizi as its central point.

A visit to the centre on Tuesday  revealed that work was in progress and the Department of Civil Planning has initiated an exercise to ascertain the number of households that will be affected and needed relocation.

Bulilima Rural District Council chief executive officer Mr John Brown Ncube confirmed the development and said alternative land was being identified to relocate families living inside the boundaries of the service centre.

“The residential and commercial stands will be finalised in a short time.

“These will affect a number of families living inside the boundaries of the service centre.

“Compensation to the families will be limited as Government will invoke statutes to deal with the matter.

“At the moment, however, we can’t talk of how big the commercial area is as  that depends on industrialists who  know what they want to put there,” said Mr Ncube.

He said the RDC would soon start the building of sewer and water reticulation system and also tarring of roads at the                centre.

“Water and sewer reticulation is top of the agenda as we want to service the area so that it has a proper system to accommodate all the infrastructure, including the sprouting suburb.

“We also want to tar the whole service centre to match our sister district of Mangwe which has Ingwizi.

“Bulilima had no service centre and this will help us to bring our services and service providers close to our people  unlike the current situation where all  things are centralised in Plumtree Town,” he said.

Bulilima residents have had difficulties  in accessing services as they had to travel more than 100 kilometres to Plumtree Town.

Mangwe RDC has already finished tarring Ingwizi Service Centre, anticipating to relocate its offices from Plumtree Town and has also availed infrastructure for service providers to set up base.
