FOUR schools in Bulilima district, Matabeleland South province have been equipped with stationery meant to promote effective learning.

The donation was made by United Kingdom based Mr Sikhumbuzo Mlalazi and Mr Hopewell Masola to Bulilima West constituency schools namely Bambadzi High, Mbimba 1, Mbimba 2 and Bambadzi primary schools.

The Diaspora based duo gifted the schools with stationery as part of their philanthropy work. In 2019, they donated school buses to Tjehanga and Tokwana schools. The donated books are in line with the curriculum for effective learning and are meant to close the gap that exists between urban schools and rural schools. The books cover various subjects from Early Childhood Development to High School level.

Speaking at the handover ceremony at Mbimba Business Centre recently, Bulilima West legislator Cde Dingumuzi Phuti hailed the donors for continuing to support Government efforts in the education sector.

“Personally I really appreciate the works that have been done by this duo of Masola and Mlalazi. It is not the first time that they have done this as they donated school buses to two schools in 2019. They have also mobilised a lot of resources to support construction of other infrastructural projects in the area where they come from. They also support other areas when requested by the community as all they want is progress and uplifting of the Bulilima district,” said Cde Phuti.

Ward area councillor Zoolakes Nyathi also paid gratitude to the donors for their initiative and encouraged them to continue supporting community development. Also present at the event was Minister of State in Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga’s Office, Dr Evelyn Ndlovu.— @mthabisi_mthire
