AWARD winning actor, Calvin Madula has set his sights on invading the world’s capital of acting, Hollywood after securing a spot at the prestigious Model and Talent Convention in New York next year.

The 2020 Bulawayo Arts Awards Best Actor and TV personality winner will be travelling to New York in July where he is expected to showcase his acting skills to a stellar cast of agents coming from all over the world.

Madula said he is ready to storm the world’s stage and is excited about the opportunity he has been given.

The Dlala Ngamla actor’s first port of call was the International Arts Talent Showcase in Johannesburg last month where artistes from Southern Africa audition for a place in the MTC and was among those selected.

He was the only Zimbabwean to attend the Johannesburg auditions which were adjudicated by acclaimed agents, the famous, Nate Butler, Joey Hunter, Aviva Skall, Blaize Johnson and Rhyvann Drummer and is now set to represent the country in the United States of America.

An elated Madula said he is focused on improving his craft leading towards the event to ensure he impresses.

The award-winning actor has featured in soapies that include EzakoMatshelela, Hotel Khumalo, the Ace and Gold diggers.

He has established himself as one of the top acting talents to emerge from Bulawayo without going to acting school as he started off as a model.

Madula said this is a stepping stone to his dream and is highly hopeful of achieving great results from this escapade.
“Going to Hollywood will not by any means dilute my love for Zimbabwe and my dream to facilitate positive change in the Zimbabwean arts industry, however it is the very experience one needs to enact change and empower artistes in Zimbabwe,” he said.

The International Modeling and Talent Association (IMTA), which organises the MTC, first held its convention in 1987 in New York City and it quickly became known in the modeling and talent industries as the premiere professional event to scout for the best new faces for the entertainment world.

Hundreds of fashion and talent agents, personal managers, casting directors, network representatives and music producers judge IMTA competitions while searching for new models, actors, singers and dancers to work in the fashion and entertainment industries.

In New York models and actors audition for top agents, casting directors, film directors, and television industry professionals from New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, as well as Paris, Milan, London, Germany, Japan, Greece, Australia, and other entertainment markets the world over.
