VETERAN midfielder, Canaan Nkomo is set to ditch Bulawayo City and track back to Southern Region Division One league where he is lined up to join Talen Vision.

Despite assisting City gain promotion into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, Nkomo is in talks with Talen Vision (TV) with expectations the two sides will reach an agreement before the end of this week.

Sources at the club indicated a deal was imminent with Nkomo having visited the club’s offices last week for talks.

“The deal is as good as done, we are just tying up loose ends but Nkomo is eager to turn out for TV this year after his contract expired at City. TV are also aware of the value that Nkomo can bring into their midfield as they mount another challenge for the Premiership berth, they know his experience will come in handy. He was crowned the region’s top player, a sign of how good he is,” said the source.

TV’s acting spokesperson Juma Phiri said they had only made enquiries about Nkomo’s availability but nothing concrete had been agreed on with the former Chicken Inn midfielder.

“Yes, we engaged him but we have not yet agreed terms with him and it is something we are looking into as we prepare for the season.

“The coaches will obviously have an input on who comes in and they will guide us going forward,” said Phiri.

Nkomo (33) confirmed he is in talks with Talen Vision adding nothing has been agreed to yet.

“Yes, I am in talks with them but nothing has been agreed at the moment,” he said.

Sources at City said when Nkomo and Thabani Goredema (34) joined Amakhosi at the beginning of last year they indicated they do not want to play in the Premiership but want to assist clubs gain promotion hence their decision to move from Hwange, a team they helped clinch the 2018 Zifa Southern region Division One League title and a place in the topflight.
