ZIMBABWEAN actor Tongayi Chirisa is set to finally make his bow on Netflix series Another Life, when the science fiction show makes a return for its second season on Thursday, 14 October.

Created by series showrunner Aaron Martin, Another Life tells the story of Niko Breckinridge’s quest for alien intelligence. Niko and her crew start with investigating the source of the alien artefact that came to Earth. As they face the harsh realities of space and its dangers, they realise that discovering intelligent life in space is hazardous — and deadly — work.

Chirisa, who has been cast opposite Katee Sackhoff in the series, will portray the character of Richard Ncube, a decorated veteran of many Earth campaigns. Having seen active duty, Richard is very adept at making life-or-death decisions and dealing with the fallout after he’s saved your life.

Also joining Chirisa in the cast for the second season will be actor Dillon Casey who will portray Seth Gage, the head of Homeland Security who’s tasked with taking over the alien response, now that First Contact has been established.

On the surface he’s affable and professional; underneath he’s incredibly ambitious, and determined to turn this alien arrival to his personal advantage.

Blockbuster roles have been coming in thick and fast for Chirisa, who last year starred alongside Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti, Peter Gallagher, and J K Simmons in Hulu and Neon’s critically acclaimed romantic comedy Palm Springs.

The film debuted at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and sold for a record breaking $22 million rights deal. Chirisa, who is represented by Domain Talent and Industry Entertainment, also starred opposite superstar actress and musician Janelle Monáe in Lionsgate’s thriller Antebellum.
