THE Second Republic has adopted a robust plan to develop the national economy and infrastructure through embracing innovation, inclusivity and collaboration between the Government and the private sector, Vice-President Kembo Mohadi has said. He said such an initiative has seen the Beitbridge Border Post being developed at a faster pace to become a shining example of how partnerships can bring good results.
“The Second Dispensation has embraced the mantra of building Zimbabwe brick by brick. We are, therefore, dedicated to fostering sustainable growth through innovative solutions, collaborative efforts and inclusivity policies”, said the Vice-President. Vice-President Mohadi made the remarks while officially opening the Beitbridge Business Summit held in the border town on Friday evening, which was organised by Sundrive Coalition.
The event was attended by several captains of industry and commerce and business analysts. Success coach and popular South African actor, Mr Gabriel Temudzani commonly known as Chief Azwindini of TshiVenda soapie Muvhango also graced the event. “The Beitbridge Border Post is a shining example of what can be achieved through collaboration and innovation,” said VP Mohadi.
“The improvements in infrastructure and services are a result of combined efforts by the Government, private sector and local communities. “These efforts have not only enhanced the efficiency of trade but have also created jobs and improved living standards for the people in the region. It is a microcosm of what we aim to achieve on the national scale.”
Vice-President Mohadi said the Beitbridge Border Post was not only the gateway to Zimbabwe but it was also a critical hub for trade and economic activity. “The progress witnessed today is testament to the commitment of our people to the development of Zimbabwe,” he added.
The achievement of the envisaged Vision 2030, he said, was not only a Governmental agenda but a national mission that calls for the active participation of every Zimbabwean. Vice-President Mohadi said business summits bring together leaders from various sectors, creating a platform for dialogue, exchange of ideas, and formation of partnerships. He said such discussions had the great potential to shape the future of the nation, inform policies, inspire initiatives, and drive actions that will take the Government closer to its goals.
“Captains of industry and commerce, your contributions are indispensable to the success of our national development agenda. This summit with its emphasis on innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity, encapsulates the spirit of our national endeavour,” said the Vice-President. “Innovation is the driving force of modern economies. It is through innovative practices that we can unlock new opportunities, create jobs and improve the quality of life for our citizens.
“Collaboration on the other hand is the cornerstone of sustainable development as no single entity whether it be the Government, the private sector, or civil society, can achieve the ambitious goals of Vision 2030 in isolation.”
He said the Government had also adopted a culture of inclusivity when implementing most of its programmes for the full realisation of Vision 2030.
Vice-President Mohadi said small and medium enterprises were already getting support while marginalised communities were being empowered to ensure that every citizen has access to education, healthcare and economic opportunities.
Nation building, he added, requires a commitment from all stakeholders, including the Government, private sector, civil society and the international community.
“The youth, in particular, have a critical role to play in this journey. They are the future leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs of Zimbabwe,” said Vice-President Mohadi.
“Their energy, creativity and passion are invaluable assets to our nation. I urge you (youth) to seize opportunities presented by these summits, learn to network, and contribute to the development of Zimbabwe. Your participation and leadership are essential for the realisation of Vision 2030.”
Matabeleland South Minister of State of Devolution and Provincial Affairs, Dr Evelyn Ndlovu said it is imperative to recognize the pivotal role of the business summit in aligning Zimbabwe’s efforts with the national vision of 2030.
