Cowdray Park remains a Covid-19 hotspot

COWDRAY Park suburb has the highest number of Covid-19 cases in Bulawayo, while the Central Business District has also been identified as a hotspot in the city.

According to an infections map released by the Bulawayo City Council health department, Cowdray Park tops in the number of cases with 114 confirmed cases inclusive of a single death.

Pumula and the city centre have also been identified as hotspots each with 104 cases with the former having a single death and the latter recording two deaths.

Other hotspots in the city, as identified by the local authority, are Nkulumane (74 cases, 3 deaths), Emganwini (73), Lobhengula (60), Entumbane (55, 3 deaths), Mzilikazi (41), Nketha (40, Magwegwe (39), Hillside (38) and Mpopoma (36, 2 deaths).

Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Health and Child Care as at Wednesday the country recorded 75 new cases and 18 deaths, bring the overall total of confirmed cases to date to 4 893 cases.

Of the new cases 64 are local transmissions while one is of a returnee from South Africa, of 17 of the new cases are from Bulawayo and 40 from Harare that remains as the hotspot in the country with 1 884 confirmed cases.
