DYNAMOS Football Club appear to have won the race to get the signature of Bulawayo Chiefs midfielder Arthur “Diego” Musiyiwa.

Musiyiwa, whose contract with Chiefs expired at the end of last month had been linked with a move to Bulawayo giants Highlanders as well as Simba Bhora who confirmed to have been in contact with him. The midfielder has been training with Dynamos and is likely to be among the new signings the club says it would  be announcing soon.

DeMbare spokesperson Tinashe Farawo could neither confirm nor deny Musiyiwa’s capture but pictures circulating on social media showed the midfielder in Harare with the Moyo twins, Kevin and Elvis Moyo who have already signed for Dynamos.

“We are still handling internal issues. We will announce our new signings once everything is sorted,” said Farawo.

The pint-sized midfielder scored the winning goal as Bulawayo Chiefs defeated Herentals 1-0 at Barbourfields Stadium to be crowned champions of the Chibuku Super Cup last year. He has been a vital cog to the team since its promotion into the topflight league.

If he puts pen to paper at Dynamos he will join the Moyo twins who were also at Bulawayo Chiefs last season. The Harare giants are also said to be in talks with youthful striker Jayden Barake but the player reportedly signed a legally binding contract with Highlanders last year, which makes him a Bosso player. Defender Frank Makarati has also extended his stay with the Glamour Boys.

Meanwhile, Dynamos’ pre-season tour of Malawi has been blocked due to Fifa’s international suspension of Zimbabwe. The Glamour Boys were invited by Nyasa Big Bullets to play at an international invitational tournament in Blantyre.

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM), however, turned down an application for a licence to host the tournament after the organisers, Bullets, included the Harare giants on the list of participating teams.

Dynamos could have been the second Zimbabwean club to feature in the event after Chicken Inn played in the inaugural edition in 2020. The Gamecocks won that tournament after beating Bullets, Mighty Wanderers and Mozambican side UD Songo to finish top of the table with nine points.— Follow on Twitter @innocentskizoe
