SOUTH-Africa based Zimbabwean footballer, Divine Lunga, who plays for Lamontville Golden Arrows in the DStv Premiership was yesterday involved in an accident in which he came out unharmed.

While details of the accident were sketchy last night, the mishap is said to have happened in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal yesterday afternoon. A source told South African publication Soccer Laduma that the car in which the player was in was badly damaged.

“He was involved in a bad accident which left his car very damaged, but we are grateful that he came out unharmed. I am from the scene as I speak to you. It happened on the M4 highway near Umhlanga,” confirmed the source.

Bulawayo Ajax Hotspurs founding director, Siphambaniso Dube, who groomed the player, said he spoke to Lunga after the accident and he assured him that he was out of danger.

Lunga was last Thursday named in Zimbabwe Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic’s provisional squad of 38 players for the Africa Cup of Nations fixtures against Botswana and Zambia. – @Mdawini_29.
