Extraordinary fruitfulness

The Sunday News

Sunday sermon with Apostle Chisale

Greetings beloved nation in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. John 15:8, 16, “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples…. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you”.

God has called His people to be fruitful. A Christian’s life is likened to a tree that bears fruits. In other words the life of Christianity is not about barrenness, it’s about yielding results. When we are fruitful or having results in all areas of our lives, the bible tells us that God is being glorified. In other words He becomes honoured by principalities and powers including unbelievers.

They will begin to praise God and come into a place of repentance. Why? Because the life of believers will be expressing that which is written in the word of God.

A number of believers have lived this life of Christianity in such a painful manner that when the unbelievers look at us, they don’t even desire to come to the Lord because there are no fruits that are showing in our lives. The bible tells us that our father God is glorified when we bear much fruit. As ministers of the gospel, as Christian families, as young people is there any fruitfulness that shows that we are planted in the Lord, because this is one of the signs that proves that we are disciples.

In other words if we are not showing any fruitfulness in our lives, our families, our ministries, it’s a sign that we are not disciples. When it comes to the kingdom, God is serious about fruitfulness. One time Jesus said he is the vine and we are the branches. Anyone who does not bear fruit is cut off. Meaning that in this walk we have to be fruitful in all areas of our lives so that God will be glorified. We should move away from a life of guessing and hoping that one day things will change. We need to go back to the vine and we start to bear fruit.

The bible tells us in Psalms 1:2 that, “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law doth meditate day and night”. So as we continually delight in the word of the Lord, in the laws of God and we meditate on them day and night, the bible says in verse 3, “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season, his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper”.

So we become like the person in Psalms 1:3, the bible says whatsoever we do prospers. Why? The bible tells us that God has chosen us first and ordained us so that we should bring forth fruit. Not only that, but our fruit should remain. When those fruits remain in us the bible tells us that whatsoever we shall ask of the father in the name of Jesus, He will give it to us.

As believers the fruit of righteousness must be seen. And the bible tells us that one of the signs to identify a false prophet or a false disciple is by their fruits. So we see that fruitfulness plays a very important role in the life of a believer.

We see Jesus coming across a fig tree and found it without fruits but it only had green leaves. That fig tree represents the life of a believer, well dressed on the outside, carrying a bible, speaking Christian language and even speaking in tongues. He is green on the outside, but on the inside there is nothing that shows the fruit of righteousness.

Too many Christians are religious Christians, they are also very vocal and argumentative on issues of Christianity.

They are like the tree that attracted Jesus from afar, but when he got close there was no fruit and he cursed it. I pray that we may not be like the fig tree, where on the outside we are fake, and on the inside there is nothing that shows that we were with God. A life like that is fake.

May the Lord help us to come into repentance. May we be fruitful in all areas of our lives so that the nations of the world will come to the feet of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us repent from the false pretence, where we claim to know him whilst we have had no encounters with the Lord Jesus. Let us repent from the fake Christian life so that we may be people that bear much fruit. Once again I would like to invite you to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour, by believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord and Saviour, and you shall be saved.

May God bless you all and this beautiful nation Zimbabwe. Amen.
