FORMER Bulawayo City Council (BCC) Ward 17 Councillor Alderman Ephraim Ncube has died.
The former councillor who was elevated to Alderman in 2018 after serving council for 10 years passed away last Wednesday. He will be buried tomorrow at Lady Stanley Cemetery.

In his condolence message, Bulawayo Mayor, Councillor Solomon Mguni said Ald Ncube’s death left a void which the city would not be able to fill.
“Alderman Ncube served as councillor for Ward 17 from 2008 to 2018 (comprising Pumula North, Hyde Park Villages and Hyde Park) having been sworn in on 2 April 2008. He was re-elected and sworn in again on 16 September 2013 for the 2013 to 2018 council. He was elevated to the dignity of Alderman on the 14th May 2018, a fitting status for a dedicated son of Bulawayo.

“His death has left a void which the city will not be able to fill for many years to come,” said Clr Mguni.
During his term of office Ald Ncube served in the finance and development committee (2008-2018), town lands and planning committee (2008 – 2018), environmental management and engineering services committee (2008-2013) and the allocation of stands and premises for development (2008-2013), where he was the committee’s deputy chairperson.

“He represented the City of Bulawayo as an alternate member in various outside bodies and Committees which included the Zesa Western Area Advisory Committee (2008/2009), Local Authorities Pension Fund Board of Trustees (2008/ 2009).

A special council meeting will be held in his honour in the Council Chamber, City Hall Municipal Building on Monday, 20 March 2023 at 9am for Councillors, Aldermen, Former Mayors and Freemen before departing for Amphitheatre where a Funeral Service will be held before burial at Lady Stanley Cemetery,” said Clr Mguni.
Mourners are gathered at 6844 Pumula North.
